When was the last time

 You Laid back,

 Looked up,

& Let yourself

Drift in the clouds?

“While both groups showed significant improvement in total depression symptoms, only the MBSR group significantly improved in back pain and somatic-affective depression symptoms“

Meditation is a powerful tool, and researchers in Neurology are taking note.

The quote comes from a Brain And Behavior Paper, Brain and behavior changes associated with an abbreviated 4-week mindfulness-based stress reduction course in back pain patients.

4 Weeks

Thought you had to be a Yogi to master that kind of mind body interface?

It takes less time than you might imagine to produce results that are meaningful to you and allow you a Directors role in your health and wellbeing. Practice an hour a day- every day- and that’s only 28 hours.  I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent more time doing a circuit to my primary, specialis and pharmacist for a pain reliever than a subject spent in the study.

Of course there’s a caveat.  Every health professional will tell you, the stronger you allow a pain to become, the worse an infection or strain is, the more medication it will take to relieve that pain.  And the more time required for a treatment to begin to take effect on the condition.

I’ve lived that, I’ve held the hands of others while they lived it, and I don’t recommend it.

But the beauty here is that Mindfulness practices can be used in conjunction with any other therapy!

It can be used when other therapies are not available.

I’ve lived that too.  I’ve helped others learn how, and I highly recommend it!

So yes, the worse the condition the longer the practice will take.   But I believe you will agree that it was time well spent.  Because the aspects of yourself you get to know in the process will open you to yourself in ways no one could guess, or maybe you only dared to dream.

What might you see, if you looked into the horizon of yourself?  What do you see when you look at the clouds above, I’d love to know!  Give us a comment back.
